Today is Good Friday and I am busy getting things ready for tonights performance. As I wait for some audio files to mix down for our Pastors radio program I am reminded of something one of my Children asked me. “Dad if Jesus died on Good Friday, why do we call it good? Wouldn’t it be bad Friday?” I thought to my self, the kid has a good point. However it was a great opportunity and I seized it. I reminded my children that if Jesus had not come as He had and suffered the way the old testament prophesies had described than we wouldn’t have any proof that Jesus really was the Messiah, therefore we wouldn’t have any hope for life after the grave. Good Friday was the day that Jesus took on the sins of the world and died of a broken heart for you and I. Although it may seem like this day should be called “sad friday”, we know the rest of the story. Jesus didn’t stay in the grave. 3 days later, Jesus arose from the grave conquering death and proving He is God. Without the suffering of Good Friday there would not be an Easter.
